Your senses heighten as you are staged in ambush. All you can see in front of you is lush green, all you can smell is the sweet pine. You can hear the chirping chickadees and woodpeckers on cedars. You are in a maze of trails that have lead you into the depths of the Great Northern Forest. It is summer time, and now is Your time to pursue and slay the Biggest and Baddest Beast.
Your Guide uses a hand signal, letting you know it is time to be ready…
You know an Raging Boar is unpredictable. He can come from any direction and at any second. He may flee, or he may stare you down.
Will you hold the line?
Boars are great to Hunt in the Summer, as other hunting seasons and species are closed now is the time to Boar Hunt. Summer hunting keeps your senses and skills sharp and on target, instead of waiting for the next government hunting season. This is one of the many benefits of hunting Bear Mountain Lodge.
Authentic Boars- a Real, Raw Experience
Hunting Summer Boars offers the hunter a very unique experiences as the thick cedars, large overbearing dead falls, and pockets of mud holes transports you to the great forests of Europe and old mother Russia.
These are real Boars in an authentic setting. Being located only thirteen miles from the shores of Lake Superior, temperatures tend to stay cool through out the summer, but yes they do vary. You can expect mornings to be cool in the 40s and 50s and day time temperatures to get up in the mid 70s sometimes hitting 80 degrees.
Days are long and darkness doesn’t set in until 10 o’clock at night. A great way to hunt these long days is to lay up for a few hours in the afternoon of the day, and prepare yourself for a quite evening of spotting and stalking, or if you choose, waiting in ambush.
Giant Boars, Friends and Family
This is a great time to go hunting with all of your friends and trusted Allies. Summer vacation gives you freed time, and the warmer weather makes you want to get out and adventure.
Youngsters are out of school and need to get in touch with their inner hunter. They need to set foot into nature and forget about the other world. Better yet, they need to do this with their father. Summer is the perfect time for Father/Son and Father/Daughter Hunts as it is a great bonding experience and paves the path to adult hood. They’ll be sure to write the best, “what I did this summer” report, proving it with a picture of them and their Beast.
The other kids in class will be chanting, “All Hail The Beast Slayer!”
It is your chance to teach your children about life and death in the wild, respect for a noble beast, and the ancient urge for survival and success.
Authentic Boar Hunting isn’t just for young men. Young women themselves are becoming masters at the art of hunting. Starting young builds the entire family on hunting morals values and ethics.
These Youngsters will never forget their Dad’s Hunt for a genuine Boar.
Don’t you want to be the hero of the family and bring home the bacon?
Bring the Right Gear
I highly recommend light clothes for summer hunting. You will want a couple pairs of light pants and shirts of camouflage with a warmer sweatshirt or jacket for the early morning and late evening excursions.
A camo hat is also recommended. Good boots are important and you should bring two pairs. One pair knee high rubber boots, the other a good pair of leather goretex pack boots.
You as the hunter get to choose your weapon. Bring your own, or choose one from the Bear Mountain Vault.
As always, I recommend the biggest gun. Some popular and very successful calibers are the 30-06, 45-70, 450 Marlin, and for the Alpha Beast the Classic 375 H&H.
If you happen to be going after your Boar with archery equipment, be sure you are pulling adequate poundage, I recommend 50 lbs. but more is better.
Plan on pin point accuracy with your equipment. Shot distances in the summer will tend to be less than 25 yards. You will find it very challenging to get the right shot in such thick and heavy timber.
When you slay the Beast and become a successful hunter, you will find the meat from the summer time boars to be extra sweet. The boars are building up a fat storage all summer long in order to prepare themselves for the long hard winters. Taking down a boar in the summer means you are getting a “well rounded” beast. You will find the meat to be a lean red meat, with more of a venison texture. Perfect for grilling and entertaining your friends the remainder of summer.
